Artist's Bio

Havryil Martynovych Hliuk (also Glyuk, Ukrainian Гаврило Мартинович Глюк) was born in Transylvania (today's Romania) in 1912. Studied at arts and crafts college in Budapest in 1928-1931; Academy of Arts, Budapest in 1931-1933; Kishinev Art College in 1940-1941. Active in Uzhhorod. Well-known works include Woodcutters, 1954 – now at Kyiv Museum of Ukrainian Art. Also a graphic artist. The artist died in Uzhorod in 1983.
